FAMILY CODE 190-06 Mother of 2 teens (girl 17 and boy 15) recently got re-established in a home of their own after they escaped from emprisionment by her boyfriend who phsyically and sexually abused her and the daugher. She moved to Delaware to be near family but they cannot help her financially, only emotionally. Mother and children got established in a place of their own until the boyfriend found them and began making terroistic threats. At that point they had to give up everything they had worked for (including her job) and entered a local shelter until they could pull together enough money to get into another place of their own. During this same time she was in a severe car accident that left her temporarily disabled and totaled the vehicle. They have no vehical so getting a job is difficult since their new location is not near any businesses within walking distance that are hiring at this time. She is still looking at businesses that are within the DART bus route but she has not been able to find anything to date. Having to establish a household twice since June, in addition to saving for security deposits and utility connections has drained the available resources for this household, in addition she needs to save for a vehicle. Therefore, there is nothing left for her to get her children anything for Christmas including the new clothing and shoes they need and both want since they are at that age. In addition to helping with holiday gifts, Adopt-a-Family has an open case for help with critical household supplies still outstanding for this household.
